Consultancy

Our newly formed Consultancy division is directly under the personal charge of the Chief Technology Officer who has had consultancy experience in Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka over 25 years of commercial experience. We currently have a team of 6 in our Consultancy division all of whom have postgraduate degrees as well as commercial experience. Our target clients are medium to large sized aquaculture companies that operate anywhere from 100 to 1000 production ponds.

The Aquaculture Consultancy we offer is in Project Management, Professional Staff Recruitment, Site Selection, Trouble-shooting, Disease Control, Probiotic Production, Feed and Equipment selection, Bio-security and Pond Management Training. We also offer Climate Change Consultancy in developing practical and economical ways of achieving Emission Reductions in parallel with CO2 sequestration. In fact, clients who subscribe to our Emission Reduction methods will actually save up to 35% of their fuel costs without decrease in prawn production capacity. Once we have sufficient partner farms with Climate friendly aquaculture methods in place, we shall negotiate for a CO2-friendly Eco-Label that may assure product prices of up to 10% higher in the European Union.

Project Management consultancy will be tailored to the needs of the project. This will include staff training, use of laptop based management programmes, use of Virtual Management technology, financial analysis, manpower planning, critical path scheduling and all other components necessary to make a prawn culture project profitable. We also offer Professional Staff recruitment from our database (if you would like to be added into our database- please send your CV with a recent picture to huan@globalsatria.com.my ) and we can provide clients with experienced staff interviewed and assessed by us. We will also provide clients with advice on putting together a strategic team for large scale projects.

Site Selection for prawn culture and fish culture sites will be carried out using satellite imagery, soil and water analysis, risk analysis, GPS related echo-sounding for 3-dimensional bathymetry (if required for sea cage sites), studies on infrastructure availability and socio-economic impact as well as ways to mitigate potential environmental impacts. Trouble-shooting will cover almost any problem you find insurmountable within your own constraints. We’re very used to “thinking outside the box” and we’ll honestly tell you our chances of overcoming the problem after the initial site visit. If we cannot handle it, we’ll admit it right away.

Disease control solutions are also offered. This involves diagnosis, containment, mitigation, control and eradication. Once the disease is eradicated, we’ll also tell you how to keep it from recurring in the future if that is indeed possible. Many diseases are accentuated by stress and often by identifying the stress and changing farming protocols to lessen that stress, the disease also lessens in its virulence and outbreaks become less. We also offer In-House Probiotic production solutions using our own bioreactor designs that grow probiotic strains that we have isolated over the last few years that we have developed confidence in. This will often cut your expenditure on probiotics by 50-90% depending on what brand you currently use.

Feed and Equipment selection are often critical to the long term profitability of a prawn farming project. We can help you select Feed and Equipment that is both economical and affordable. We do not market any of these products nor do we earn any sales commission so what you will get is just pure honest advice. There are stories of feed suppliers offering bribes to farm managers to buy their feed and we are against such practices as this will not benefit the investors in the long run. We also offer to conduct third-party testing in bioassays using live prawns in our laboratory in order to assess your currently used feeds.

We also offer consultancy on Bio-Security in a practical way. Many Bio-Security measures today are either impractical or ineffective. Marine pathogens are not spread in the same way as terrestrial ones and must be addressed in a different manner. Nevertheless, some marine pathogens may be spread by avian vectors as well as crabs. Also, it is impossible to ensure Bio-Security if only DNA viruses are tested without attention given to RNA viruses.

Consultancy in Pond Management as well as training will come in the form of an in-depth analysis of a given site condition followed by a tailor-made approach to selecting a Pond Management Protocol that will be most useful to the given location. There is no one optimal protocol for all sites as soil and water conditions as well as climatic conditions differ from site to site. Infrastructure and proximity to other farms must also be taken into account. Technicians will be also be given a series of lectures followed by an examination to assess their understanding of Pond Management in a scientific way.
